OWSD is pleased to invite the ICTP community to the opening regional 
round of the 2026 edition of *Short Talks, Big Impacts competition*

beginning with *Africa*.

The event showcases *emerging women scientists* (see attachment) who 
present their research in a concise three‑minute format.
The *audience will vote* to select the Africa regional winner, who will 
advance to the *global finale*.

This session will also be co-chaired by last year's Africa region 
winners, bringing additional expertise and engagement.

We hope many of you will join to support and encourage the next 
generation of women scientists.
