*Last call for help - MAKER FAIRE TRIESTE 2026 ( 9 – 10 May 2026 )*

Dear ICTP community!

We would like to make our last call for help, open to all staff, 
researchers, students, fellows and friends of the ICTP and all the other 
scientific Institutions of the Trieste system .
We call you to help us by being part of Maker Faire Trieste 2026 (smr 
4215) as a volunteer :-)

This 13th edition of this classic event will be held on _Saturday 9 and 
Sunday 10 May in Piazza dell’Unità d’Italia in Trieste_ and it will be 
co-organised as always by the ICTP and the Comune di Trieste. Internally 
to ICTP, the organisation of the event will be under the fablab team 
(STI section) with the assistance of many other admin offices and it has 
already received a financial contribution from Regione Friuli Venezia 
Giulia and from Comune di Trieste.
The opening time for the public will be 12:00–20:00 on Saturday and 
10:00–18:00 on Sunday. This year the event is again held in May, with 
the aim to facilitate a broader participation of schools.
Like in the past editions, as part of the event (focused on ingenuity 
and creativity, inventors and makers) there will be a "scientific 
village" named Science Picnic, with exhibits, demos and interactive 
activities for the young public, broadly open to all fields of science 
and STEM education. As you know, this year is also the Centennial of our 
founder Abdus Salam, and therefore is even more important for us to 
showcase ICTP activities to the local community of Trieste and the whole 
region (usually the MFTS attract around 20 thousands people from all 
Friuli Venezia Giulia and beyond).

As usual, the event will be family-friendly, free and open to everyone, 
and we hope you’ll contribute to fill it with fun and new things to 
discover!
You can personally contribute by:
- LAST CALL: organise a laboratory/activity/demo with the public within 
the ICTP booth (maybe just for an hour or so, or more times spread in 
the two days): it would be really great to have many hands-on 
activities, representing all ICTP research fields! Please contact the 
ICTP Public Information Office to join the ICTP BOOTH team (pio at ictp.it

- LAST CALL: help us by joining our volunteers, we always need more 
hands, feet and heads to run such a rich and fulfilling event. We will 
accept your help even if your Italian language skills are very basic, 
any additional hands and heads are useful! You can join the volunteers
