Update on ICTP Facilities

*Dear all,*

*Please find hereafter short update on the ongoing renovation works, 
security and other matters regarding the ICTP facilities:*

  * *Renovation of the library:*
      o *Demolition works are ongoing and sandblasting works are planned
        to start in the second half of September and will take around
        6-8 weeks*
      o *Layout alternatives are drafted  based on the Terms of
        Reference developed by the ICTP 2.0 Committee. Users and funders
        will be consulted on the designs via the existing channels.
          This will include the Library Committee, Scientific Sections,
        Associates and Diploma Offices, Fundraising and Institute
        Advancement Office.*

  * *Renovation works in the Leonardo Building*
      o *The central unit of the fire alarm system has been replaced*
      o *Works are ongoing to replace the pipe system for the hydrant
        systems in the lower levels of the Leonardo Building*

      o *The procurement process has been started for the renovation of
        the sea-side windows and the improvement of their isolation. The
        first renovation works will start in the library on the sea side.*

  * *Renovation in the Enrico Fermi Building*
      o *The procurement process to renovate the lifts has been started*
      o *The procurement process to replace the existing heating unit
        has been started *

  * *Security measures *
      o *The Security Cabin installation will be completed by mid
        September.*
      o *Works on the closure of the terrace have been delayed but will
        be completed by the end of the year.*

  * *ICTP has signed a three year extension of the contract with Campus
    X to provide accommodation for Diploma students.*
