MINDFULNESS MEDITATION AT ICTP

Dear Colleagues, Friends,

Do you know what *Mindfulness Meditation* is?

Mindfulness meditation is a beneficial mental training that harnesses 
our mind and helps us reduce stress, noxious thoughts and attachment 
to/rejection of things, people and events.

We all share frantic lives, where stress, pain and frustration often 
hold centre stage. We have all gone through that sense of walking round 
in a fog and feeling lost in our life. Sometimes we do react, but we 
often use ineffective coping strategies, which may include binge 
eating/drinking, extreme physical training, or other compulsive activities.

Any way out? Yes: Mindfulness Meditation.

Mindfulness Meditation is "awareness that arises through paying 
attention, on purpose, in the present moment, non-judgementally" (Jon 
Kabat-Zinn, the "father" of Mindfulness Meditation).

Scientific evidence keeps on proving the power and effectiveness of this 
practice, which reduces anxiety, improves self-awareness, increases 
concentration, reduces memory loss and builds empathy and loving 
kindness (especially towards ourselves).

If you know it and you would like to start practicing. Or if you don't 
know it, and you would like to get a sense of it, I'm pleased to invite 
you to join in the following initiative.

*Every Tuesday at 12:30*, *starting on 7 MAY*, I will guide a 
Mindfulness Meditation session in presence, in the /Meditation Room - 
1st floor - at Galileo Guest House/ (GGH).*

Meetings will include a short lecture/discussion about selected topics 
(one new topic every week). Then 30' meditation will follow, and 
eventually we will enjoy sharing our experience with other participants.

Or, join us on *Tuesday* *7 May, Meditation Room GGH at 12:30 *for the 
first meeting. Wear comfortable clothes and a pair of soft socks.
