“Le Donne nella Città della Conoscenza” is a photographic exhibition
focusing on portraits and voices of women of the scientific and cultural
system of Trieste. The exhibition, dedicated to the role of women in
academia, research and culture, is an initiative of SISSA, curated by
SISSA Medialab, and is part of the Trieste Learning City project of
Unesco, coordinated by Università della LiberEtà and the Municipality of
Trieste with the support of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region. The
partners are: Elettra Sincrotrone Trieste, INFN - sezione di Trieste,
INAF - Osservatorio Astronomico di Trieste, International Centre for
Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology ICGEB, Conservatorio di Musica
“Giuseppe Tartini”, Università degli Studi di Trieste, Istituto
Nazionale di Oceanografia e di Geofisica Sperimentale – OGS, “Abdus
Salam” International Centre for Theoretical Physics – ICTP, The World
Academy of Sciences – TWAS.
It will be open from 8 March until 14 May, every Friday and Saturday
afternoon from 4 pm to 7.30 pm. Schools can book exclusive midweek
morning openings. The program includes face-to-face meetings with the
women portrayed in the exhibition and special events on gender issues.
One of the initiatives will focus on policies and best practices to
promote gender equality in the local institutions such as the Gender
Equality Plan.
