This weekend, starting Friday 24 September through Sunday 26 September,
Trieste will celebrate science with two major events open to the public.

On Friday 24 September, SHARPER - Researcher's Night will be celebrated
in Trieste's Piazza Unità, at the same time as in hundreds of cities
throughout Europe. All science institutions and research centres of the
so-called "Trieste System" will be involved in talks, science games and
demonstrations, with the goal of making science accessible to everyone.

On Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 September, Trieste Next, the local science
research festival, will then take over Trieste's main piazza, with a
rich programme of talks and panels on many cutting-edge science topics
and many more ways for the general public to get excited about science.

ICTP's scientists will take part in many activities during the weekend,
giving talks, participating in informal learning activities, or just
sharing their passion for science with people stopping by our booth. In
particular, ICTP will be represented in the following events:

- Friday 24 September 2021 / h 9.45-10

Virtual panel: "Climate hazards: cosa rischiamo se la temperatura
globale continua a salire", with Erika Coppola, ESP.

- Friday 24 September 2021 / h 15:00 - 16:15

Panel: "La Pandemia, i Dati e il Pubblico. Strategie di analisi e di
comunicazione", with Jacopo Grilli, QLS.

- Saturday 25 September 2021 / h 10:00 - 11:15

insieme", with Marcello Dalmonte, CMSP.

- Saturday 25 September 2021 / h 16:30 - 17:45

evoluzionistica", by and with Claudio Tuniz, STI.

- Sunday 26 September 2021 / h 11:30 - 12:45

centri urbani", with Filippo Giorgi, ESP.

Moreover, ICTP will be represented in Piazza Unità with a booth that
will feature fun science activities such as a cosmic-crosswords game, a
treasure hunt, and a science art exhibition, showcasing the beauty
hiding in everyday research.

Other ICTP activities include:

- two talks on "Maths and geometry of the Universe" on Friday 24 in the
morning, by ICTP mathematicians Claudio Arezzo and Fernando Rodriguez
Villegas (for schools only);

- Mini-talks in the booth with Antonello Scardicchio and Natasa Stojic,
CMSP, on Sunday 26 September;

- a virtual tour of ICTP, premiered on Thursday 16 September, and

- "Ricercatori al Pub", with Marcello Dalmonte, CMSP, talking about the
Anthikytera Mechanism and quantum simulators (held on Tuesday 21
September as a pre-event of the festival).
