Invitation to the opening ceremony of the Latin American Film Festival at ICTP on Saturday 10 November 2018

For ICTP Visitors, Scientists and Staff

You are all most cordially invited to the Opening Ceremony of the Latin 
American Film Festival which will be held at the ICTP on Saturday 10 
November, Leonardo Building, in the Budinich Lecture Hall, starting at 
19:30.

ICTP visitors, scientists and staff who wish to attend should kindly 
show their ICTP badge at the entrance of the Leonardo Building.

For security reasons, the ceremony is not open to the general public but 
those who are not from ICTP and wish to attend should register and write 
to the organizers before 9 November at: latinotrieste at yahoo.com

Programme of the ceremony:

- Presentation of this year's festival and opening remarks

- Salvador Allende Award Ceremony: This year the award goes to Vera 
Vigevani Jarach, an Italian journalist who fled to Argentina in 1939 
following the Italian racial laws promulgated by the fascist government 
in 1938. Following the death of her daughter Franch Jarach during the 
military dictatorship of Jorge Rafael Videla, she joined the Plaza de 
Mayo Mothers association.

An additional Salvador Allende award will also be given in memoriam to 
Fernando Birri (ex-President of the Festival).

- Screening of the short film "Pelé 75" by Yuri Bobek (Brazil - 2015, 17 
min.),  in Portuguese with Italian subtitles.
