Monday 4th December, Callas soiree at Cinema Ariston: documentary and film

To pay homage to Maria Callas on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of 
her death, the Greek Community of Trieste will show the documentary 
"L'isola di Medea" (90', 2017).

The making of the film “Medea”, shot between Grado and the Lagoon in 
1969, was the occasion for the meeting of Maria Callas, the opera diva, 
and Pier Paolo Pasolini, film director, poet, writer and intellectual. 
The documentary questions a particular moment of Callas' life: Pasolini 
wants her for the lead of "Medea", creating the opportunity of a great 
meeting of art, intents and feelings between two of the greatest 
artistic personalities of the 20th century.

The documentary is co-produced by FVG Film Commission and Erich Jost.

In omaggio a Maria Callas nel 40o anniversario della sua scomparsa, la 
Comunità Greca di Trieste la ricorda con la proiezione del documentario 
"/L'isola di Medea/" (90', 2017).

Le riprese del film "Medea", girate nel 1969 tra Grado e la laguna, 
furono l'occasione per l'incontro di Maria Callas, diva assoluta 
dell'opera e Pier Paolo Pasolini, regista, poeta, scrittore, 
intellettuale. Il documentario indaga su un momento particolare della 
vita della divina Callas: Pasolini la vuole come protagonista della sua 
"Medea", creando l'occasione per un grande incontro d'arte, intenti e 
sentimenti tra due giganti del Novecento.
