*CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS*
------------------------------------
*21-22 May - third edition of the TRIESTE MINI MAKER FAIRE (TSMMF)*
*20 May (friday) - first edition of the “SCIENCE PICNIC TRIESTE” (SciPicTS)*
In May 2014 and 2015, the ICTP organized the first and second TSMMF in
collaboration with Maker Media Inc., Immaginario Scientifico and Comune
di Trieste.
Last year it has been a successful, entertaining event with about 16.000
visitors attending
during the weekend.
This year the TSMMF will be held on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 May and
will be
preceded by a special event, Friday 20 May, reserved for students of
primary and secondary
schools, during which our Miramare campus will be transformed into an
outdoor laboratory
where science –freed from the usual classrooms– becomes fun.
We are happy to introduce the first *Science Picnic Trieste*, a whole
day (from 9am to 4pm)
in which students and teachers will be able to be an active part of a
wide selection of
interactive experiments, science shows, short talks on various
scientific topics, hands-on
workshops, interactions with researchers and scientific explainers. The
goal is to expose
them to the creative side of science and technology, to galvanize them
so that they may
consider a career as researcher. The style will be informal
and entertaining, following the
format selected by the European Commission as one of the best 10
european projects of
the last decade in the field “Science and Society”.
*VENUE*
*
*
The SciPicTS will be held in the front parking lot and terrace area of
the Leonardo Building

secondary) schools,
teachers and students from all the region and beyond.
The TSMMF will be held at the ICTP campus (as in previous years) on
Saturday, 21 May
and Sunday 22 May.
*On Saturday, the TSMMF will be open to the public from 11.00 to 21.00*:
all booths
will close at 19:30 after which there will be a show on stage until
20:30. The public
will then exit the campus not later than 21:00. It will be followed by a
“Maker’s Party” dinner.
*On Sunday, the TSMMF will be open to the public from 10.00 to 18.00*.

Some music and entertainment will add to the good atmosphere of the
event. There

For the public, on Saturday we are organizing a small show on the
terrace main stage from 19:30 to 20:30,
immediately after the closure of the stands. The “Maker’s Party” dinner
