IMMAGINARIO SCIENTIFICO SCIENCE CENTRE OPENING DOWNTOWN TOMORROW AT 18.30
at the SALONE DEGLI INCANTI (located on the sea front after Piazza Unita')
with hands-on exhibits, multivisions, scientific labs, confeRences, shows,
exhibits, and many other interactive experiments. You will find a close
connection between science, music and art and a contest for architects,
designers, engineers and creative people under 35 years of age called
"Wunder". Open until 10/8/2013, 17-23 every day. On Sat. 20/7 at 21.00 :
prof. Maurizio Fermeglia, rector of Trieste's University, will give a talk
on changes and science; on Sun. 21/7 at 21.00 Marino Petracco of the
Università del caffè (Coffee University) will give a talk on how to get
the best from nature, assisting with in-field training on the most
environmentally responsible cultivation, harvesting and processing
techniques.
ART EXHIBITIONS
Opening tonite at 19.00 at Palazzo Gopcevich (downtown, close to Piazza
Ponterosso ) of an interesting Photo exhibit "1913 in Trieste", the last
peaceful year before WWI. Many pictures of old Trieste, just one hundred
years ago.
Art show at the Municipal Art Gallery in Piazza Unita' by Andrea Giorgi
entitled Ruggine (Rust), open until 29/7 every day, 10-13/17-20.
exhibition " Recycle Plastic Art" by Alberto Schettino in Sala Veruda
space in Piazza Piccola (behind Piazza Unità). Open until 06/08, Mon-Sun

At the Sartorio Museum in Largo Papa Giovanni XXIII - Painting exhibition
by neoclassic painter Giuseppe Bernardino Bison (1762-1844). Open until

At the Civico Museo della civiltà istriana, fiumana e dalmata in via
Torino 8 (behind the Revoltella Museum) Painting exhibition by Triestine
painter Argio Orell (1884-1942). Open until 4/8/13, Mondays to Saturdays,

DANCE STAGE
ACTIS, a cultural art association, is holding a 3-day intensive dance
course from 18-20 July with dancer Caterina Rago of the New York Martha

BALLET SHOW
Tonite,19/7, Ballet show at 20.30 at the downtown Rossetti Theatre in
Viale XX settembre, 45 by ROBERTO BOLLE AND FRIENDS FROM THE AMERICAN
BALLET THEATRE. For the first time on an Italian stage Bolle will perform
along with some of the brightest stars of the American Ballet of New York.
The star of La Scala will dance a selection of pieces of his choice,
extracts of ballets and original works representative of ABTs

ANTIQUE FLEA MARKET downtown, behind Piazza Unita'
Every third Sunday of the month dealers set up many stalls selling
antiques and interesting furniture and items. Open from 9.00 - afternoon.
FREE SUMMER YOGA CLASSES
Yoga rendezvous downtown on 23 and 30 July and on 6 August from 8.00 -
8.45 at Galleria Tergesteo (close to Piazza Unita';). This initiative is
promoted by the Joytinat Yoga Ayurveda Ass., free admittance. Wear white

JAZZ
The TriesteLovesJazz 2013 Festival in Piazza Verdi (in the open, close to
Piazza Unita') features: On Sat. 20 July at 21.00: The Stochausen, Comisso
and Thome' Trio will play classical jazz. On Sun. 21 July at 21.00: the
Trieste Early Jazz Orchestra with 11 musicians plus conductor, will play
the twenties and thirties music. Free for all.
TOURING THIS AREA
GUIDED TOUR OF TRIESTE every day at 10.30 a.m.: A 2 hours guided walking
tour through the main sites and monuments of Trieste. The tour is in
Italian and English and costs euro 7/pers. Book your tour by calling the

The Miramare Castle is right next to the ICTP and is open every day -
except on Monday mornings - from 9.00 to 18.30. Entrance to the
surrounding park is free (8.00 - 19.00). The location, gardens, castle
with the lovely decor and furnishings, paintings,rooms full of history are

The Giant Cave - Grotta Gigante is considered the largest tourist cave in
the world, situated in
the Triestine Karst (Carso), half an hour from the city center. An
exclusive feature of the cave is the horizontal pendulum, constructed by
university researchers in order to calculate the slightest movements of
the earth's crust. Visiting times every hour: 10:00 - 18:00. Each visit
lasts one hour. Entrance ticket: Euro 11/each. For groups of over 15
persons: Euro 5/head. Take bus 42 from Piazza Oberdan and get off at Borgo
Grotta, Sgonico proceed by foot for 5 minutes follow road sign for

OUTSIDE TRIESTE
Venice Biennial - Biennale di Venezia, the 55th International Art
Exhibition at the Giardini and Arsenale and other spots in Venice. This
year's theme is "Palazzo Enciclopedico" (The Encyclopedic Palace) Ongoing

SUMMER FERRIES
Summer ferries (Delfino Verde) to Grado until 1/9/13: Every day departure
from Molo Audace in Trieste (close to Piazza Unità) at 08:15, 12.45 and

Ferry boats to Slovenia & Croatia ongoing until 1st September: hydrofoils
departing from Molo IV (2' from the train station) on Tuesdays,
Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays. Also this Saturday 6/7 to the Slovenian
coastal town of Pirano and to the Croatian town of Rovigno. Take your
valid ID card/passport along and buy yr ticket at the Samer & Co. shipping
