ART EXHIBITIONS and CONFERENCES
At Galleria Rettori Tribbio (downtown, in the old city). Solo art show
"Sfaccettature" (Many facets) by Lucia Ghirardi. The show is open until 8
March 2012, weekdays 10-12:30/17-19:30, Sunday 10 - 12/ Closed on Monday
and Friday afternoon).

At the Sartorio Museum (Largo Papa Giovanni XXIII, n.1): "Il tiepolo a
Trieste - The drawings of Master G.B.Tiepolo", ongoing until Sunday
07/04/2013. Open Tuesdays to Sundays, 10.00 - 18.00. Closed on Mondays.
Ticket euro 5,50.

TODAY: CONVERS-ART, talks on Public art  with the public at 20.30 in Via
Rittmeyer 18, organized by the renown art school "Scuola del Vedere" and
by Juliet Art Magazine.

TODAY Presentation of Spiro Dalla Porta Xydias's new book "The Divine
Mountain" at 17.30 at Palazzo Economo in piazza della liberta', 7. 
Xydias, 96 years old, is a well known mountain climber and writer.

MUSEUM
Visit the Sartorio Museum, an ancient 18th century Villa that belonged to
a rich merchant family. There are beautiful rooms with antique furniture
and important art collections, paintings, jewellery, furnitures,
silverware as well as 254 drawings by Tiepolo (1696-1770, a famous
Venetian artist), Santa Chiara's triptic and more recently, Fittcke's
paintings. Ticket euro 5,50.  The Sartorio is situated in Largo Papa
Giovanni XXIII, n.1, open Tuesday - Sunday 9:00 - 13:00. Take bus 30.

Visit Revoltella Modern Art Museum in Trieste, in the centre of Trieste, a
house-museum in neo-Renaissance style. It was designed in 1852 for Baron
Pasquale Revoltella, a wealthy Trieste businessman and art collector. He
was one of the lead financial supporters for the construction of the Suez
Canal.  In 1869, when Baron Revoltella died without heirs, he left
everything to the city of Trieste starting with his home and all the
furnishing, books, and works of art it contained. In 1872 a Museum and a
Gallery for Modern Art were established. You will visit this sumptuous,
historical dwelling with its original 19th century furniture, art
collections and sculptures. Take bus 36 to the Central Train Station and
then bus 8 until Piazza Venezia. The museum's entrance is in via Diaz n.
27 very close to the bus stop.

THEATRE
At the Rossetti Theatre
- Assicurazioni Generali Hall (Viale XX Settembre 45): "Swan Lake on Ice"
on 28/02 . 01/03, 02/03 and 03/03 at 20.30. Extra plays on 01/03 at 17.00,
02/03 at 16.00 and 03/03 at 11.00. The unique Italian top level
performance by the Imperial Ice Stars, back from a series of "sold out"
replicas at the Royal Albert Hall in London. Based on the renowned musical
score by Ciajkovskij, the most romantic tale will be told of the hindered

TOUR TRIESTE
The Miramare Castle is right next to the ICTP and is open every day from
9.00 to 18.30. Entrance to the surrounding park is free (8.00 - 16.00,
until the end of February). The location, gardens, castle with the lovely
decor and furnishings, paintings, rooms full of history are not to be

The Duino Castle is one of the most attractive castles in Europe and is
still the official residence of the Torre e Tasso royal family. From its
cliff top location there is a stunning view of the sea as it overlooks a
small fishing village and is surrounded by colourful, extensive gardens.
Inside, you can admire the furnishings, paintings, books and mementoes
collected over centuries; visit its beautiful park and the World War 2
bunker. During the winter, open weekends and holidays: 9:30 - 16:00

The Giant Cave - Grotta Gigante
The cave is considered the largest tourist cave in the world, situated on
the Triestine Karst and an exclusive feature of the cave is the horizontal
pendulum, constructed by university researchers in order to calculate the
slightest movements of the earth's crust.  The temperature is constantly
around 11º and the tour lasts around one hour. Open from 10.00 to 16.00.
Entrance tickets: Euro 11.00; for groups of over 15 persons Euro 5/head.

The SLIVIA TOWERS CAVE at Aurisina Cave (Bus nr.44 from Piazza Oberdan) is
60 mt. deep and 600 mt. long and is adorned with spectacular stalactites
and stalagmites, like towers! (The most famous are a group of 8
stalagmites, after which the cave is named). The cave can be visited by
anyone, without particular tools, however sturdy shoes are recommended. 
Admission: 8,00 euro for adults and 6 euro for 6-12 years. Open in
February on Saturdays & Sundays from 10.30-14.00. For more info:

MISCELLANEA
In Sant'Antonio Square, from 28/02 to 03/03 "CIOCCOLATIAMO", the
traditional event dedicated to his majesty "The Chocolate"! About thirty
stalls coming from different Italian regions will propose & sell little
tastes of chocolate candies, pralines and hot chocolates from 09.00 to
21.00.
