*ART EXHIBITIONS*

*On the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the Unification of Italy, 
new exhibition starting today at the Revoltella Museum: "Arte e Nazione. 
Dagli Induno a Fattori" (Art and Nation. From the Indunos to Fattori). 
*The collection of works, prints and precious books covering the social, 
cultural life and history of the struggle for the unification of Italy 
comes from the Museum's own collection and will be exhibited in the 
historical apartments of Baron Revoltella. It is interesting to note 
that Trieste was part of the Austrian Empire and that the Baron had 
actively sided with the Austrians in the 1859 because of his numerous 
financial and commercial connections with the Austrian Empire. The 
museum is located in via Diaz 27 (take bus 8). Entrance ticket 6,50. You 
may also visit the Modern Art Gallery. There is a free-guided tour every 
Sunday at 11:00. Visiting time: 10:00 - 18:00 (closed on Tuesday).

*Duino Castle today: *on the occasion of the celebration of the 150th 
anniversary of Italian Unity, the Duino Castle is open to the public 
with a discounted entrance price (euro 3) from 9:30 - 17:00. Music 
performance at 18:00 with the FVG Gospel Choir. Free entrance but 
booking is necessary, call 040 208120.**

*On the occasion of the celebration of 150th anniversary of Italian 
Unity, the Museo del Risorgimento in via XXIV Maggio, 4 (piazza 
Oberdan)* *will be exceptionally open today from 9:00 - 19:00 (open only 
on Thurs and Fri from 9:00 - 13:00). *It houses interesting documents, 
photos, objects and paintings related to the Risorgimento period in 
Italy In the main hall, there is a memorial dedicated to Guglielmo 
Oberdan a patriotic hero from Trieste who attempted to assassinate the 
Austrian Emperor Franz Joseph in 1882 and was subsequently executed. 
Free entrance.

* "Trieste Liberty. Costruire e abitare l'alba del '900", *(Trieste 
Liberty, urban architecture 1900 - 1914) at the Salone degli Incanti - 
ex Pescheria in Riva Sauro 1. Bus 8.This is an exhibition with beautiful 
shots of Trieste's buildings, architectural projects and designs during 
the Liberty period here, highlighting the works of famous local and 
national architects such as Max Fabiani, Josip Costaperaria, Giuseppe 
Sommaruga, Giorgio Zaninovich, Romeo Depaoli, Giacomo Zammatio and 
others. Entrance ticket euro 3 (free for children and teens up to 14). 
The exhibition is open Mon - Sun 10:00 - 20:00 until 19 June.

*CLASSICAL MUSIC*

*Opera at Trieste Verdi Theatre: Salome until 19 March, music by Richard 
Strauss, directed by Stefan Anton Reck. *There is a 50% reduction on 
tickets purchased "last minute" (one hour before the show) for all 
performances (except for the first performance) directly at the Verdi's

Revoltella Museum concert on Saturday 19 March at 17:00*, a piano and 
violoncello concert with music by Shostakovich and Brahms. The concert 
is free and organized by the Trio di Trieste Chamber music.

*"Sunday Concert In Duino" on 20 March at 11:00, *organized by the 
Scuola Superiore Internazionale di Musica da Camera trio di Trieste and 
the UWC. The concert is held at the auditorium of the United World 
College in Duino. A young and talented Slovene violinist Jure Smirnov 
will play music by Handel, Vitali, Dvorak, Massenet and Kreisler. 
Following the concert an aperitif will be served. Take airport 51 bus.

Tartini Music Conservatory "Wednesday Night Concerts" is free and open 
to all prior to booking. Forthcoming on Wed 23 March: *Berthomieu Flute 
Quartet, music by Gianella, Bartholdi, Bozza, Berthomieu and Jean-Jean. 
Next performance on 30 March, piano recital with Stefano Scarpel, music
