WHAT'S ON THIS WEEK 16 - 19 June 2011*

TONIGHT: Special Evening at ICTP for scientists, visitors and staff: 
There will be a buffet dinner starting at 19:30 followed shortly after 
by live Afro-Cuban music with **"El Guateque" band. The band is a 
formation of 8 musicians who are part of the "Orquesta Salsa Ocho Rios" 
founded in 1980 in Italy. The orchestra has played all over Italy and 
abroad. Last year the orchestra reunited again to celebrate its 30 years 
of activity with a concert in July in Piazza Verdi in Trieste. The 
musicians performing tonight are: Aljosa Jeric (timbals), Flavio Davanzo 
(trumpet) Giovanni Toffoloni (bass guitar), Jacques Centonze (congas and 
bongos) Juan Vladilo (piano and lead vocal), Leo Curri (flute), Maurizio 
Cepparo (trombone) and Yoel Mildestein (congas and bongos). Venue: 
Leonardo Building Cafeteria and Terrace. The dinner is payable with a 
full meal coupon (includes 2 drinks) or by cash euro 8 (includes 1 drink).*

*Trieste Verdi Theatre: Lucia di Lammermoor (16, 17 and 18 June), music 
by Donizetti, directed by Julian Kovatchev. *There is a 50% reduction on

*SPECIAL GUIDED TOURS*

*"Trieste, literary atmospheres, an inspiration for many great writers", 
*on Saturday 18 June at 16:30: A 2 hours guided walking tour through the 
literary history, the anecdotes and the life in the city of some of the 
most outstanding figures in modern literature; on the imaginary and 
symbolic footsteps of Italo Svevo, James Joyce, Umberto Saba, Fulvio 
Tomizza, as well as Claudio Magris and Veit Heinichen. The tour is in 
Italian and English and costs euro 5/pers. It is necessary to book your 
place by calling the FVG Tourist Office in via dell' Orologio 1 (on the

*A Special visit to the Revoltella Museum (in via Diaz 27) this weekend: 
"Un Caffè con il Barone Revoltella*" ("A coffee with Baron Revoltella") 
is a special guided tour (in Italian) of the Baron's private apartments 
with two actors taking you around and playing the part of Baron 
Revoltella (actor Lorenzo Acquaviva) and his friend (actor Ivan 
Zerbinati) recounting the Baron's life and in particular his adventures 
in Egypt as he was one of the main financial supporters of the 
construction of the Suez Canal and vice president of the company. You 
will be invited to drink a coffee and listen to the Baron's life and 
confessions. The show starts tonight at 21:00 and on Fri 17, Sat 18 and 
Sunday 18 June at 21:00 and again in July on 14, 15, 16, and 17 July. No

*ART & CULTURAL EXHIBITIONS*

* Tonight: Inauguration of a new exhibition "Bloomsday 2011" at the 
Joyce Museum *in via Madonna del Mare 13, 2nd floor at 19:00, opening of 
the 1st section of Paolo Colombo's works "Dalla Torre di Stephen alla 
Stanza di Molly" ("From Stephen's tower to Molly's room") inspired by 
Joyce's Ulysses and at 19:30, opening of the 2nd section of the artist's 
works at the Galleria MetroKubo in via dei Capitelli 6563 b. Close by 
there will be a buffet with refreshments served at 20:00 and at 20:45 in 
Piazza Barbacan close to the Arco di Riccardo, there will be a play 
inspired by Joyce's Ulysses ("Dal Bordello di Circe alla coltre di 
Molly" (From Circe's brothel to Molly's blanket") with music and songs 
from Irish and Triestine popular repertoire in collaboration with Scuola 
di Musica 55. The exhibition is ongoing until 16 July.

* Photography exhibition: "Realtà ed Immagini Percorse" at the 
Biblioteca Statale in Largo Papa Giovanni XXIII: *Five professional 
Italian photographers from different artistic backgrounds (Enzo Cumbo, 
Jean Mill, Paolo Rinaldi Reynolds, Bruno Solini and Giorgio 
Valentinuzzi) express through their personal shots the close bonds that 
exist between art and photography. The exhibition is open from 8:30 - 
18:30, and Saturday 8:30 - 13:30, ongoing until 26 June.

*"150 anni d'arte da Fattori a Fontana". *On the occasion of the 
celebrations of the 150th Anniversary of the Unification of Italy, 120 
works of famous Italian artists form the 19th and 20th centuries are 
exhibited at the "Scuderie di Miramare" (ex-horse stables of the 
Miramare Castle - before the Main Entrance on the right). The exhibition 
is ongoing until 28 August. Open 10:00 - 19:00 (closed on Mondays).
