* Revoltella Modern Art Museum in Trieste*
Palazzo Revoltella, in the centre of Trieste, is a house-museum in
neo-Renaissance style. It was designed in 1852 for Baron Pasquale
Revoltella, a wealthy Trieste businessman and art collector. He was one
of the lead financial supporters for the construction of the Suez Canal.
* *In 1869, when Baron Revoltella died without heirs, he left everything
to the city of Trieste starting with his home and all the furnishing,
books, and works of art it contained. In 1872 a Museum and a Gallery for
Modern Art were established.**
