*_FOR STAFF AND SCIENTISTS_*

* *

*Free-guided tour in English to the Val Rosandra Valley on Saturday 31
October in the morning with wine and food tasting.*

*Meeting point in Piazza Oberdan at 8:15 with the guide and organizers.
There are 20 seats available for ICTP on a private bus. Return
scheduled at around 13:00.*

The Val Rosandra Valley encloses a remarkable natural environment which
reveals its true beauty in autumn. It is situated half an hour by bus
from the city centre.

The tour will start from San Lorenzo, a village overlooking the Valley
from which one can admire the panorama and the Gulf of Trieste and will
proceed to Monte Stenna (one of the highest peaks of the area 441m above
sea level) along the old rail station that once connected Trieste to
Vienna in the past centuries, now converted into a cycling path.

You will be accompanied by a specialized guide who will illustrate the
naturalistic aspects of the area, its geomorphology, its numerous
caverns and caves, the Rosandra stream, the Roman aqueduct and the
general history of the area. There will be a stop for refreshents in a
local farm with wine and food tasting.

The tour is organized by a local travel agency "Pansepol" in
collaboration with the Province of Trieste and is open to anybody who
wishes to participate. Please wear comfortable clothes and a good pair
of sneakers and take a small bottle of water.

*Advance booking is necessary at the Info Point as there are limited
numbers of places available. It would be highly appreciated that, once
committed, you show up on the day of the tour as the travel agency has
reserved an English-speaking guide especially for our scientists. Any
delay or last minute cancellation could cause several inconveniences to
the organizers and embarassment for the Centre as the seats reserved for
ICTP are not available to other tourists.*
