MUSIC AND SHOWS

Sat 19 Dec: Last performance by the Stanislavsky Moscow Ballet "La
Fanciulla di neve" (The snow girl) a tale by Ostrovsky and music by
Tchaikovsky. There is a 50% reduction on tickets purchased "last minute"
(one hour before the show) for all performances directly at the Verdi's
ticket office. You may also send an SMS to: 340 4350395 and join the

Tonight Thursday 17 Dec : Gospel Festival at Sala Tripcovich (close to the
central train station) at 21:00. Tonight starring Robin Brown & Triumphant
Delegation.  Tomorrow: Sisters & daughters of praise.

Sat 19 Dec: Concert at 20:30 at  S. Peter and Paul's church in via Cologna
"Atmosfere di Natale - Christmas atmospheres" by the Ensemble vocale  "Il
Focolare, the Petrarca high school choir and the gospel choir Soul Diesis.

Sun 20 Dec: "Mattinate musciali internazionali" International Christmas
carols at 11:00  at Revoltella Museum in via Diaz 27, Trieste.

Monday 21 Dec at 17:00 at the Bobi Bazlen room in Palazzo Gopcevich (via
Rossini, 4), there will be the presentation of "L'avvenire dei ricordi:
Italo Svevo cent'anni fa" (The future of memories: Italo Svevo 100 years
ago) voiced by Corrado Travan and music by Carlo Moser. There will be a
toast right after.

Monday 21 Dec at 20:30 at the Tartini Music Academy, via Ghega 12, 
Christmas concert in collaboration with the Music Academy of Capodistria.

EXHIBITIONS
Sat 19 Dec at 19:00: Inauguration of designer Mila Schon's exhibition
"Mila e la notte" (Mila and the night) at Salone degli Incanti, Ex
Pescheria in riva Nazario Sauro,1 . On display evening gowns designed by
here from 1966-1993. Open until until 18 April 2010, each day 10:00 -
20:00. Closed on 25/12 and 1/1/2010.

Darwin exhibit at ICTP  - extended until the end of January
ICTP's ongoing exhibit has been extended until the end of Janaury - not
accessible during the festivities closure (23 Dec. to 6 Jan. 2010) - at
the Leonardo building on Darwin and evolution, celebrating the
bicentennial of Darwin' s birth. Open Mon - Fri, 8:30 - 17:00 . Details

Solo exhibition "Per filo e per segno" by artist Jasna Merku' in Galleria
San Giusto, via Conti 1. There are paintings and illustrations on display.
Open until 13 January 2010, Mon - Fri 18:00 - 20:00.

MISCELLANEOUS
Free horse carriage rides in Piazza Unita' :  Sat 19 from
11:00-13:30/14:30-19:00 and Sunday 20 from 10:30-13:30 / 14:30-19:30.

Christmas Fair in Piazza Sant'Antonio, Piazza Ponterosso and surroundings
with kiosks and stands selling local, regional and foreign handicrafts,
food products and many ideas for Xmas shoppers.  Open until 22 Dec.
Ice-skating ring on the Rive, (parking area after the Stazione Marittima)
ongoing until 10 January.  Bus 8.

Theatre for children (in Italian) at the Teatro la Contrada. Check programme:

Sat 19 at GRADO: Official inauguration of this special X'mas event at
16:30 at the Santa Eufemia basilica. Discover over 100 handicrafted X'mas
cribs spread around this lovely fishermen's town. Free guided tours of the
cribs will be effected on 26/12 and 2/1/2010 and 10/1/2010, but booking is
necessary. Call: 0431-898224/239. There will be many stands selling
typical products, gift items,  several initiatives for children: puppets,
jugglers, artists, acrobats and bands playing music. There are. This
initiative will carry on until 6 Jan 2010.
