ICTP Closure and Arrangements during the Christmas and New Year Festivities

NOTICE TO ALL SCIENTISTS AND STAFF - 2009
CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR FESTIVITIES


Please note that, on the occasion of the forthcoming Festivities, the
Centre will be closed from Thursday, 24 December 2009 to Wednesday, 6
January 2010 inclusive.  ICTP Staff will not be on duty during this
period.
To facilitate the closure of the buildings, all Scientists and Staff are
kindly requested to leave the premises no later than 18.00 hrs. on
Wednesday, 23 December and ensure that all the electrical equipment in
their offices is switched off.
Scientists and Staff members are also kindly requested to free as much as
possible their desks and windowsills due to major cleaning works during
the closure period.

In order to carry out periodical and major extraordinary maintenance works
- some of which will begin already on the late afternoon of 23 December
2009 - the following will apply:

ICTP'S BUILDINGS
The Leonardo Building (LB), E. Fermi Building and the MLaboratory will be
closed during the whole period, i.e., from 24 December to 6 January 2010
inclusive. No heating will be provided.

At the Leonardo building the electricity supply will be totally
interrupted from 24 December to 1st January 2010 inclusive.
On 6 January 2010 it will be forbidden the whole day to enter the building
due to disinfestation operations.
The vending machines will also not be operative.
The corridor between SISSA and the Leonardo Building will be closed.
In case of emergencies, the Security Guards may be contacted. Tel: 040
-2240606.

The Fermi Building will be shut from 24 December to 6 January 2010 inclusive.
It will be completely off limits on 28, 29 and 30 December 2009  for floor
polishing and waxing operations. Everybody is kindly requested to remove
papers, files, etc., placed on the floor in order to avoid damaging them.
On 6 January 2010 it will be forbidden the whole day to enter the Building
due to disinfestation operations.

The Adriatico Guesthouse will be closed for major works from Sunday 20
December 2009 to 17 January 2010 inclusive. No heating can be provided due
to extraordinary works on the Heating System.
ONLY TWAS offices on the seventh floor will be accessible from 20-23
December 2009 and from 7 January 2010 onwards.

The Galileo Guesthouse will stay open during the whole festivities period;
some areas and facilities will be made available for the diploma students
who wish to continue their work. The Galileo Reception can be contacted
for any emergency, tel: 040 2240113.

The MLaboratory will be completely off limits on 24 December for waxing
operations.

COMMUNICATIONS AND IT EQUIPMENT at ICTP
Essential services such as email, webmail, Web and portal servers, remote
login (SSH),




storage servers and telephone system will be operational for the whole
period and accessible from both within and outside ICTP's premises, except
on the following days:
  - 24 December, when the telephone system will be down for about 30
minutes, and
  - 28 December, when all network services/servers will be down for
    maintenance from 7:00-16:00 hrs.
All the other servers, such as computational servers (include LSF cluster,
clp4-x, amd64-x), will be unavailable (switched off) from 24 December to 6
January 2010 inclusive.

CAFETERIAS AND BARS
LB Cafeteria and Bar
Closed from 24 December 2009 to 6 January 2010 inclusive.
Please note that on 23 December only Lunch will be available at the LB
Cafeteria.
AGH Cafeteria and Bar
Closed from 21 December 2009 to 17 January 2010 inclusive.

SERVICES
The Library will close at 17:00 hrs on 23 December and reopen on 7 January
2010.

The Unicredit Bank at the Enrico Fermi building will be open on 24
December 2009, but only from 8:30-11:00, after which it will be closed
until 6 January 2010 inclusive.
In case of need, the Unicredit Bank branch 13 at Barcola will operate as
follows: open all day from 28 to 30 December; open only from 8:30-12:30 on
31st December; open all day on 4 & 5 January 2010 and closed on 6 January
2010.

The Travel Agency Carlson Wagonlit Co. at the Fermi Building will be
closed from 24 December 2009 to 6 January 2010 inclusive.

The Allianz Insurance Company at the Fermi building will be closed from 24
December 2009 to 6 January 2010 inclusive.
If necessary, you can go to their downtown office in via Locchi 19/A, tel.
040 312400 during this period. Closed on 25-26 December 2009 and closed on
1- 2 January 2010.

The Medical Services will be closed from 24 December 2009 to 6 January
2010 inclusive. For urgent cases, the Galileo Guesthouse Reception may be
contacted (tel. 040-2240113).

The Postal Services will be shut from 24 December 2009 to 6 January 2010.
No internal office distribution will be made.
For shipments, the Post Office in Barcola may be used.
Please note that the Post Office in Grignano (near the church) will be
closed from 16 to 31 December 2009.

All services will be resumed on Thursday, 7 January 2009.
