*"**La Notte dei Saldi" (Summer Night Sales*) on Saturday 5 July, most 
of the shops in Trieste's city centre will be open until midnight with 
special summer discounts. There will be many collateral events such as 
tango dance in Piazza Verdi, a fashion show in Piazza Ponterosso.

*ART EXHIBITIONS*

*"Maria Callas, 30 anni dopo" *(30 years later) at Civico Museo teatrale 
"Carlo Schmidl", Palazzo Gopcevich in Via Rossini 4. From 4 July to 7 
September, a retrospective of Callas's life with a photography 
exhibition and many collateral events, films and music. Free entrance 
and opening times everyday from 9:00 -- 19:00. Free guided tours on

*"Panta Rei", works of art by Jasna Merku, *a well known artist from 
Trieste at the Museo della Casa Carsica in Monrupino -- Repen until 20

*Photography Exhibition at the Miela Theatre: Francesco Penco, one of 
Trieste's first and most important photo-reporters of the past century. 
*A collection of photographs of Trieste from 1871 -- 1950 from the times 
of the Austrian domination of the city to the allied military government 
after the 2nd World War. *Everyday from 17:00 -- 21:00 until 27 July.*

to learn about James Joyce's life in Trieste, the houses he lived in,
