This website gives details of all museums in Trieste and the

Below is a brief list of some exhibitions going on locally.
Tomorrow opening of contemporary art exhibit "Is there anybody out
there?" at the LipanjePuntin Gallery (via Diaz) displaying the works of
well-known international artists like David Byrne, Martino Coppes,
Angel Marcos, Arash Radpour, Thomas Rose, Sergio Scabar, Marco Citron.
Vernissage 19-21. Open until 10 March 2007. Monday-Friday 15:30-19:30
and Saturday 16:30-19:30. Closed on holidays.
"The brain project 2006" and works by Edward Zajec at the Biblioteca
Statale (Largo Papa Giovanni XXIII, 6) dedicated to digital art. Open
until 10 February 2007. From Monday-Friday 8:30-18:30 and on Saturday
from 8:30-13:30.
Art Exhibition "Recent works" by British artist Simon Edmondson at
Galleria Torbandena (next to bar Rex, Corso Italia) ongoing. From
Tuesday-Friday 10-13 and 16-20.
Photography exhibition at the Twins Club, via Economo 5, 1st floor.
Photographs of 6 young photographers dedicated to fashion and
accessories. Opening times Monday-Friday from 9-21 Open until 28
February 2007.
Revoltella Museum: solo exhibit of the works by painter Piero Marussig
(1879-1937). Open each day 9-18.
Group exhibition of well-known 1900 artists: Capogrossi, Carà,
Negrisin, Spacal, at the Ugo Carà museum in Muggia. Open until 28
February 2007. From Monday-Friday 17 - 19.
C H I L D R E N's A C T I V I T I E S
L'Immaginario Scientifico
This science museum (located on the ground floor level of the Adriatico
Hotel, entrance at the rear of the hotel, opposite the 36 bus stop) has
exhibits which are particularly suitable for children.
A children's laboratory will be held on Sunday from 15.45-16.45 for
those aged 4-7 and from 15:30-17:00 for 8-11 year olds. This week both
groups will be making worker bees. You can book by e-mail at

M U S E U M S
Last chance to see the Museo del Presepio in via dei Giardini, 16
(Servola) which is open until 15 January 2007 with its exhibition of
nativity scenes, which are a great Italian tradition. You can visit
Saturday 15-18 and on Sunday from 10-12 and 15-18. Free entrance.

Museo dell'Antartide - Museum of the Arctic
This interesting museum is located in San Giovanni park. You can see
reconstructions of Amundsen's tent and Shackleton's ship, as well as
all sorts of interactive exhibits documenting various expeditions to
the Antarctic. Open Mon, Wed and Thur from 9-13 and Fri, Sat and Sun
from 9-13 and 16-19, closed Tuesday, in via Weiss 21. Tickets cost 5
Euro, 4 Euro for concessions and 3 Euro for school groups. More

M U S I C & T H E A T R E
Miela Theatre - IMMAGINI
All weekend at the Teatro Miela there will be a series of films, shows
and exhibitions as part of the Trieste Film Festival. You can find the

Live Music in Trieste
At Corsia Stadion - an informal"birreria"where you can eat and drink in
via Battisti.
Blues Brothers Tribute band - Friday 12 January, Vecia Trieste -
Saturday 13 January
At Etnoblog - a bar in via Madonna del Mare
Friday 12 January at 22:00, the Boxmen will perform garage-rock music
as part of their mini-tour.
Trieste Flute Ensemble
Free concert of classical music by the Trieste Flute Ensemble at 18:00
on Sunday 14 January in the Prosvetni Dom, in via del Ricreatorio in
Opicina.
S H O P S
Trieste
The end of season sales have started in all the local shops, so now is
the time to look for bargains. Not all local shops open on Sunday, but
the two main shopping centres (Il Giulia - bus 6 from Barcola stops
right outside and Le Torri d'Europa - bus 8 from the railway station)
are open every day non-stop.
T O U R S
Trieste by Bus
Every Saturday a bus leaves for a tour of Trieste from in front of the
train station at 14.00. It takes in all of the main sights to see
downtown, and there is also a 30-minute stop at St. Giusto Castle,
where you can walk along the Castle walls or visit the Cathedral or
simply enjoy the spectacular views. Tickets may be bought in the Sala
Eurostar in the main railway station and cost 5.20 Euro, with children
under 10 travelling free.
Trieste by Boat
There is still a boat trips operating locally. You can travel from the
Molo Pescheria to Muggia and visit the Istro-Venetian fishing village.
