Trip to Aquileia

A trip to Aquileia, a very old marshland settlement, with a 700-year 
Roman period dating back to 181 B.C.,  is being organized for ICTP 
visitors on Saturday 2 December 2006.  The half-day visit will include 
a guided tour in English of all of Aquileia's main points of interest. 
The charge for the tour is 4 euro, with 2.50 euro entrance for the 
optional visit of the crypt.  A bus will take participants from 
Grignano, near the bus stop of the 36 at 9:00, and return around 13:00.

a stop at the ancient church of San Giovanni in Tuba, which is located 
at the mouth of the river Timavo, which runs for over 40 kms 
underground beneath the local Carso rocks -
