Saturday : half-day Trip to Aquileia

Saturday's going to be a nice sunny day and it will be pleasant to spend
the morining visiting Aquileia with Marzia, an English speaking guide, who
will give interesting information about this region during the trip.
Aquileia is one of the most interesting sites in this area, a very old
marshland settlement, with a 700-year Roman period dating back to 181
B.C.. There are old Roman mosaics in the basilica and old Roman ruins
spread out in a lovely landscape.
On the way back from Aquileia, there will be a stop at the ancient church
of San Giovanni in Tuba. We have asked the keeper of the church to open
it specially for us. It is located at the mouth of the river Timavo, which
runs for over 40 kms underground beneath the local Carso rocks.

The contribution requested for the tour is only 4 euro.
If you are interested in taking part in the trip, please come to the
InfoPoint in the Reception area of the Main Building to sign up as soon as
possible or if you are not based at the Main Building, you can register
for the trip by sending a message to this account.

A bus will take participants from Grignano, near the bus stop of the 36
at 9:00, and return around 13:00.

You can read more about Aquileia on the website:
