Free-time activities
A R T  &  E X H I B I T I O N S
This website gives details of all museums in Trieste and the

Below is a brief list of some exhibitions going on locally.

Inauguration Saturday 25 November of an exhibition of 60 works by Piero  
Marussig (Trieste 1879-Pavia 1937).  The paintings are divided into  
four sections: "mitteleuropa" period, 1905 Paris, 20th century Milan  
and Italy, still life in the '30s.  Open daily at the Museo Revoltella  
(via Diaz 27) until 29 January 2007 from 9:00-18:00. (Sunday from  
10:00-18:00, closed Tuesday).  More information on the website:

At Palazzo Costanzi (piazza Piccola 2) until 11/12/2006, around 50  
works by the Triestine painter and architect Carmelo Nino Trovato are  
on show.  Entitled "Acque Sognanti" (Water of dreams), you can visit  
free of charge from 10-13 and 17-20 daily.
At the Mozart Cafe (via Carducci 24) of an exhibition of watercolours  
of the surrounding Carso countryside, by local artist Claudia Marusic.   
On display until 15/12/2006, daily from 7-21.
Exhibition to celebrate 100 years since the opening of the historic  
Transalpina railway line is open until 31 December in the railway  
museum (Museo Ferroviario  - via Giulio Cesare, 1).  Open Wednesday,  
Saturday and Sunday from 9-13.
Exhibition entitled "Gli orologi di Miramare" open 9:00-18:00 every day  
in Miramare Castle until 31/1/2007, with a collection of Hapsburg  
timepieces on display in the various rooms of the Castle.
A photographic exhibition entitled Trieste e le Navi Bianche is taking  
place at the Civico Museo del Mare in via di Campo Marzio, 5.  From  
Tuesday to Sunday until 7 January 2007 from 8.30-13.30, you can see a  
collection of photographs on the history of cruise ships in the port of  
Trieste.
Until 25 November at the bar/bookshop Knulp in via Madonna del Mare  
7/a, you can see the photographic exhibition by Cristiana Slavich  
Profili "Gente Comune" (Common People).

C H I L D R E N's  A C T I V I T I E S
L'Immaginario Scientifico
This science museum (located on the ground floor level of the Adriatico  
Hotel, entrance at the rear of the hotel, opposite the 36 bus stop) has  
exhibits which are particularly suitable for children.
A children's laboratory will be held on Sunday from 15.45-16.45 for  
those aged 4-7 and from 15:30-17:00 for 8-11 year olds.  This week both  
groups will be working with fossils.  You can book by e-mail at

C I N E M A
International Scienceplus Fiction Festival
Until 26 November 2005 at the Cinecity cinema in the Torri d'Europa  
shopping centre, there will be the seventh edition of the international  
science fiction festival.  More information on all the screenings,  
competitions and events organized on the site

F A I R S  &  M A R K E T S
Until 26 November 2005 at the Fiera di Trieste (piazzale De Gasperi,  
1), there is a fair taking place selling all sorts of gift items.  This  
year the fair is also incorporating the sale of used ski and outdoor  
sports equipment and clothing organized by SK Devin, usually held  
annually in Aurisina.  Entrance is free daily from 10-20:30.

M U S E U M S
Museo dell'Antartide - Museum of the Arctic
This interesting museum is located in San Giovanni park.  You can see  
reconstructions of Amundsen's tent and Shackleton's ship, as well as  
all sorts of interactive exhibits documenting various expeditions to  
the Antarctic.  Open Mon, Wed and Thur from 9-13 and Fri, Sat and Sun  
from 9-13 and 16-19, closed Tuesday, in via Weiss 21.  Tickets cost 5  
Euro, 4 Euro for concessions and 3 Euro for school groups.  More

M U S  I C
Baroque music
On Sunday 26 November at 17:00 in the Lutheran church (Largo Panfili,  
1) in Trieste, there will be a free concert of baroque music.

Casa della Musica
On Friday 24 November at 21:00 at the Casa della Musica (via Capitelli,  
3), there will be a multimedia performance entitled "Urban Vox" by the  
DMA quartet.  The concert will be a fusion of jazz with urban sounds  
(hip hop, funk, acid).

T O U R S
Trieste by Bus
Every Saturday a bus leaves for a tour of Trieste from in front of the  
train station at 14.00.  It takes in all of the main sights to see  
downtown, and there is also a 30-minute stop at St. Giusto Castle,  
where you can walk along the Castle walls or visit the Cathedral or  
simply enjoy the spectacular views.  Tickets may be bought in the Sala  
Eurostar in the main railway station and cost 5.20 Euro, with children  
under 10 travelling free.
Trieste by Boat
There is still a boat trips operating locally.  You can travel from the  
Molo Pescheria to Muggia and visit the Istro-Venetian fishing village.  
Take advantage to admire Trieste from the sea.  See the following web
