To all ICTP Visitors
A trip to the nearby coastal village of Muggia, in the extreme
south-east of the Province, has been planned for the morning of
Saturday 1 July 2006.
Muggia is very picturesque, with an ancient and interesting history
dating back to Roman times, and also has much in common with Venice,
under whose rule it passed in 1420. You can see some pictures here
http://www.muggia.info and get more information about the town.
The trip to Muggia will include a meeting with representatives of the
local Town Council and and a guided tour in English of the Town Hall
and Council Chambers.
There will then be a guided walk around the town and the option to
visit a small castle, with a guided tour by the owner.
The whole trip is expected to last until lunchtime, and once the guided
tours are over you will be free to continue your trip alone, as there
will still be lots more to see and do, or to return to ICTP.
The trip is free of charge, apart from the optional tour of the castle,
which will cost 5 Euro, including refreshments (places are limited for
this part of the tour).
We shall travel to Muggia on the Delfino Verde boat. If you have a
'rete' bus ticket, you can travel free. Otherwise tickets cost 5.40
Euro for a return ticket, or 3 Euro for a single.
If you are interested in participating in the trip, please come to the
InfoPoint to sign the list, or send an e-mail to this account by
Wednesday 28 June 2006 at 12 noon. Numbers are limited, and places
will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis.
