Free-time activities - Special Edition

Since today is a national holiday in Italy, there are lots of 
activities going on around Trieste.

F O O D  &  D R I N K
SAGRE
In and around the pinewoods in Barcola, the annual Sardon Day sagra is 
continuing.  Entrance is free, and you can buy typical local fish 
dishes and drink from the kiosks, which open at 18:00.  There is also 
an arts and crafts market. At 22:30 today, there will be a fireworks 
display.

A fireworks display will also take place in Sistiana Bay, starting at 
midnight.  The usual kiosks and bars will be open, with music and 
dancing.

In town, along the waterfront, there is also a sagra taking place, 
Sagra de la Sardela.  Here too you can buy typical triestine dishes to 
eat.  This evening there will be a concert by the local triestine 
singer, Lorenzo Pilat.

The Festa di San Rocco is on in Aurisina, with live music at 21:00 
provided by the Happy Day group, food and drink on sale from 18:00.

There is also a sagra taking place in Domio, with live music and 
dancing from 20:30.

M U S E U M S
Many local museums are open today.  The Revoltella Museum in via Diaz 
will be open from 14-22, with free entrance.  Until 19:00, there will 
also be guided tours of the modern art gallery offered by local young 
university graduates.

San Giusto castle is open until 19:00.  At 21:00 in the adjacent Orto 
Lapidario museum, there will be a concert for string instruments by a 
group from the Romagna region of Italy, Cordaglia.  They will play a 
wide selection of music, including tango, jazz, classical and Latin 
American.  Entrance costs 2 Euro.

This evening at the Civico Museo di Storia ed Arte, which is also 
located at San Giusto, there will be guided tours on ancient Egypt and 
analysis of mummies, ancient writings and the Roman empire.  Tours are 
scheduled to start at 20:30, 21:30 and 22:30.

Duino Castle, which is normally closed on Tuesdays, is open today.  
This evening there will be the Luci e Suoni (Lights and Sounds) show, 
which can be viewed from the sea.  In order to watch it, you must go to 
the Molo Pescheria near the Stazione Marittima in town and catch the 
Delfino Verde boat at 20:30.  Tickets cost 8 Euro and include the boat 
ride and the show.


M U S I C & D A N C I N G
Concert in Muggia
At 21:00 this evening in piazza Marconi in Muggia, there will be a 
performance of pieces from famous Broadway musicals by the Serenade 
Ensemble.  Entrance is free.

Concerts in Piazza Unita' - Serestate 2006
This evening in piazza Unita', at 21:30, there will be a concert by the 
Nuova Orchestra da Camera F. Busoni (a chamber music group).  Entrance 
is free.
